JCSTS' curriculum strives to deliver 5 core competencies to its learners. Each of the seminary's programs focuses on three to five of these competencies.

• Create a justice-oriented worship ecology grounded in Jesus’ ministry that forms communities of equity, hospitality, and affirmation of God’s creation. (Worship Leadership)

• Read the signs of the times and act as ambassadors of the gospel in the current context. (Faith Community Formation)

• Practice theological engagement that is fluent in biblical faith and justice, and activates
  liberative action in the world. (Theological Formation)

• Understand, appreciate, and employ cultural differences to deepen justice-oriented ministry in
  the world. (Interculturality)

• Lead community transformation and long term systemic change. (Community
  Transformation)
