Poverty in the Promised Land: Biblical Justice

About

This program examines the theological roots of poverty and wealth through the lens of Walter Brueggemann's work. Participants will explore the biblical tension between the royal economic system of accumulation and the covenantal vision of neighborliness. The course analyzes how the Promised Land functions as a gift that necessitates justice, the role of prophetic critique in addressing systemic inequality, and practical ways to apply these ancient texts to contemporary social justice work. It provides a scholarly framework for understanding economic disparity as a theological challenge that requires moral courage and societal healing.
