Faith-Based Community Organizing

About

This program explores the intersection of sacred theology and grassroots mobilization. Students will analyze the biblical foundations of the prophetic tradition and Black Liberation Theology as frameworks for modern justice work. The course reviews key 20th-century organizing movements, including the U.S. Civil Rights struggle and international resistance groups. Practical modules cover essential skills such as power mapping and relational meetings. The curriculum concludes with specific assignments for community audits and a comprehensive list of suggested readings for further study, providing a clear path for those seeking to implement faith-rooted social change.
