This course explores the historical and contemporary roles of Black women in Christian ministry, highlighting their significant contributions and the systemic barriers they face. Students will examine the intersections of race, gender, and faith, focusing on the leadership of pioneering figures and the development of womanist theology. The curriculum provides a detailed analysis of the triumphs achieved within various denominations and the ongoing challenges related to equity and institutional recognition. By studying these narratives, participants gain a deeper understanding of ministry as a space for justice and spiritual leadership within the church.
