Drum Major for Justice (DMFJ) is designed to equip persons of faith in the Christian tradition to become effective advocates and organizers for social justice. The course is structured to help learning partners (participants) explore the history of the Black Church and Black-led liberation movements while applying those lessons to current and contemporary challenges. By offering this course, JCSTS seeks to inspire transformation through a theology and practice of liberation deeply rooted in the traditions of the Black Church. The course is divided into four comprehensive units: - Examining the Underpinnings of Systemic Oppression and Anti-Black Racism - The Black Church, Black Liberation Theology, Womanist Thought, and Faith-based Black Nationalism - Patterns of Racism and Pathways of Resistance - Black-Led Liberation Movements: Constructing a Theology and Practice of Healing and Repair This program is a call to action inviting participants to move beyond civility to radical reconciliation, equipping them with the tools, insights, and community support necessary to engage in transformative justice work.
